Dr Edward Whitehead-Reid, senior surgeon at Kent and Canterbury Hospital and Britain’s first private aircraft owner dies following a plane crash the previous day at Maidstone. His passenger, Annie Burnside, daughter of the headmaster at St Edmunds School, was also killed.
