By 15 votes to 12, Tunbridge Wells council decided that Tank 131, donated to them in 1919, would be scrapped. Described as ‘a blemish and a disfigurement to a beautiful town’, the sale raised £51, £5 of which was used to remove the plinth and make good the ground.
