The 255ft luxury “Queen of the Channel” made her maiden voyage to Margate, with dignitaries from Essex and Kent ports on board. The diesel vessel will provide south east coastal towns with a regular continental service. She was bombed and sunk on 28th May 1940 during the evacuation of Dunkirk.
