William Talbot Hodge appeared before Margate magistrates charged with stealing 18 handkerchiefs. A handkerchief salesman named Abbott had dropped samples in Percy-road Broadstairs on 11th, and on picking them up on 12th, was told they had already been collected. The Bench thought temptation had been placed in Hodge’s way and he was dismissed with caution.
