Canterbury motor dealer George Robert Barrett was fined £11 10s for unlawfully storing 450 gallons of petrol in a brick kiln in Sturry Road, although police decided against confiscation. Barrett was founder of Barretts of Canterbury, was Mayor in 1927, and died in 1943.
