At 5am, the evacuation of 136,000 children, teachers, mothers, invalids and the blind from London and the Medway towns started, to reception areas in Kent. Purely a precautionary measure, it will take several days to complete. The public are asked to avoid railway and bus stations so as not to hinder organisation.
