Death of Patrick Steptoe (74), British scientist and medical researcher who, with Robert Edwards, perfected in-vitro fertilization of the human egg. Steptoe had retired to Blackfriars Street in Canterbury, and died in the Chaucer Hospital after suffering from cancer.
