The Body of the black boy washed ashore at Sandgate was interred in the Folkestone Cemetery. Richard Philpott, a young carpenter, with others provided a coffin with decent lining and shroud, and dressed in a black suit, followed the remains of the poor African boy to the grave, placing a cross of white flowers on the coffin as it was being lowered to its last resting place.
