The use of wireless telegraphy on the Dover Calais cross-Channel steamers was inaugurated, the steamer equipped with the Marconi system being the turbine Empress. All the S.E. and C.R. channel passenger steamers are to be similarly equipped on the Calais and Boulogne routes. The Dover-Ostend steamers have employed the system for several years.
