Police forced entry into a house in Seabrook-rd., Hythe to find Mrs Ethel Brettelle, aged about 75, dead in the scullery, with her head near the gas cooker. Her son John, 37, who suffered from Down’s Syndrome, sat nearby for two days without realising what had happened, and had been told that when his mother was asleep, he must not disturb her.
