Sudbury Tower in Pound Lane, dating from 14th century, was presented to the City of Canterbury by Messrs. Stagg. It was once part of the city fortifications, and is reputedly haunted by previous owner Archbishop of Canterbury Simon of Sudbury, who was beheaded in the Peasants Revolt of 1381.
