Two Kent brothers broke a world record for being the smallest twins to survive when they were born at Margate General Hospital. Adrian and Stephen MacAdam weighed 1lb 3oz and 1lb 5oz respectively when born, and spent their first 4 months in the special baby unit before mum Isobel could take them home. Their birth, and the record, was announced in November 1972 when they were 3 and a half, as no-one had expected them to survive.
