William M. appeared in court following a botched hold up with a toy gun in International Stores, Ashford. He immediately handed himself in at the police station saying he wanted to go to prison to get away from his mother-in-law. His defence argued he was ‘lacking the guts to stand up to her’ before he was given to a 2 year suspended sentence.
