Three Maidstone boys, aged 15, 16 and 17 were taken to three Maidstone pubs by a police inspector. I wasn’t to get a drink, but just the reverse, to ensure they don’t get served until 18. Magistrates had issued this unusual instruction after they had consumed 5 pints of brown ale, serving a warning to the boys and licensees that any further breach would be reported to the Licensing Sessions.
