Compulsory educationis evidently doing good. A party of cyclists, who were riding the other day in the neighbourhood of Pluckley asked the way of a lad who in appearance seemed to be a fair specimen of a yokel. Insteadf of uuttering the ususal unintelligible directions in a drawling tone of voice, the lad briskly replied in good English and with an excellent accent, “Up the hill and inquire again.” Needless to say the cyclists were surprised.
