Queenborough on Sheppey was chosen for the first public trial with mass radiography. Dr G I Rees-Jones and a team of 12 took a lorry and trailer with £15,000 worth of equipment and enough film for each of the 3,000 residents. Visitors were disappointing; only 18 had volunteered in the first two hours. Next month, it moves to Canterbury for the first large scale public X ray in Kent.
