D class engine No. 737 has reached the buffers of its career, but instead of heading to the breaker’s torch, it is now being restored at Ashford Works, where it was designed and built in 1901. The 51 of this class were used to haul express passenger trains. Engine 737 will be hauled to the British Transport Commission Museum at Clapham for her retirement. It is now in the National Railway Museum at York.
