Margate magistrates heard of a home-alone 13 yr old Birchington boy, on hearing the cry ‘Goldfish for rags’ grabbed his mother’s coat to seal the deal. The rag and bone men returned the almost new coat when they realised what had happened, but were fined £1 for dealing with a person under 14.
