The BBC conducts its first stereo radio test transmissions from Wrotham using the Zenith-GE system. Initially broadcasting classical music to the south east on the Third Programme, stereo spread nationwide, and Radios 1, 2 and 4 went stereo in 1973, with a celebratory Stereo Week.
