A simple experiment was tried at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, on a girl who underwent the extraction of a tooth after the inhalation of the ether. The tooth was drawn, in the presence of the physicians, with great ease, and without occasioning her any pain. She came to her senses immediately on the extraction, and when asked if she would still undergo the operation, she replied in the affirmative, totally unconscious that she had already lost her tooth.
