A chimney fire at Shalimar, Beresford-gardens, Margate was found to be caused by a pneumatic drill at work next door, causing loosened mortar and soot to fall onto the regulator plate and ignite by the boiler. The fire was extinguished by raking the flue and the use of chemical appliances.
