Ashford Bypass (A20) was opened by Harold Watkinson, Roads Minister, between today’s Junction 9 and the top of Hythe Road near junction 10. A small section of the original concrete bypass still exists as Simon Weil Avenue. This was the first step in traffic relief for the town centre.
