The remains of Thomas Longley, weighing 45 stone, were interred at Dover. The coffin weighed almost 6 cwt, was 7 ft long, a yard wide and 2ft 3ins deep, and was worked on rollers through the window into the hearse. Many floral tributes testified to My Longley’s popularity.
