Ramsgate mechaanic Alfred Johnson stopped to help a stranded motorist who had suffered a double puncture near Littlebourne. When the motorist turned round, a smiling Prince of Wales declined Mr Johnson’s help, explaining another car was on its way. The Prince of Wales became King Edward VIII in 1936.
