The restoration of RT8
Restoring RT8
Fascinating insight into the restoration of an iconic London bus.
RT8 was one of the erroneously called 'pre-war RTs' (2RT2s) as she was delivered on 11th Nov 1939. She was rescued from the breaker's torch in 1961 before moving to the States. She was repatriated in 2005 by Ensignbus, who have since undertaken her extensive restoration.
Over 4,000 of the RT type (in various guises) were subsequently built, with the last one retiring from LT in 1979.
